Asahi Optical Company 100 years!

From its beginning in 1919, Asahi Optical produced the finest optical glass for telescopes binoculars and lenses. In 1951, they introduced the Asahiflex, the first Japanese slr camera, for sale from 1952.

This is a new page named Pentax. It will bring the highlights of the history of the company from the start till today, also analyzing the strong and the weak points of this history.

Under construction..  Sorry for taking your time. A project for september? (October, may be. Or November.)(Or next September?)

While waiting, you can enjoy some presentations and interviews concerning newsand visions from spring/summer 2020.

Here is the camera map containing (almost) every international model from 1952 till 2019. My collection contains every single one from the start till the digital era. From there on only major models are collected, but some more are shown.

Thank you! I should have said around 500000. Also remember that sometimes a top plate was broken and had to replace it with a spare one numbered differently.

I think your SN indications for the S1 may be a little off. I just picked up a chrome one with SN 527384.
