Sigma: The lens producer

This site is about the history of the PentaPrism SLR camera. It is also a site presenting my collection of these cameras. When it comes to Sigma I have not one in my collection. They seem to have gone under my radar, mostly because Sigma was so much a lens producer, but also because their cameras from the 70's and 80's were produced by others. Cosina would be the first guess, but the Mark 1 is not on the Cosina list. Some say that Ricoh produced them, but Ricoh PP SLR cameras were mostly produced by Cosina. And amomg them both Singlex TLS and XR-7, the two Sigma twins. (See Coslina list Cosina: 1969-2004)
Anyway, these are the main Sigma-branded cameras from the different eras.

1961: Company founded as a lens producer.

1976: First PP SLR camera introduced: Sigma Mark 1 (M42 mount) (A Ricoh Singlex TLS twin.)

1983: First K-mount PP SLR introduced: Sigma SA-1  (A Ricoh XR-7 twin.)

1992: First SA-mount camera: Sigma SA-300

1995: SA-300N

1997: SA-5

2001: SA-7, a compact SLR AND: SA-9, high-end SLR

2002: First digital SLR camera: Sigma SD-9

2004: SD-10

2006: SD-14

2010: SD-15

2012: Last DSLR introduced: Sigma SD-1

2016?: DSLR camera production discontinued.

Thank you! I should have said around 500000. Also remember that sometimes a top plate was broken and had to replace it with a spare one numbered differently.

I think your SN indications for the S1 may be a little off. I just picked up a chrome one with SN 527384.
